Persephone (my portable hard drive)
I currently have 3 external hard drives, Selena, Minerva and Persephone. Selena and Minerva are desktop hard drives, not meant to be dragged around, but I have been using Selena as a portable for almost 4 years now. I am really worried that one day she will stop working, so I bought a portable hard drive last semester, but had issues with it always trying to eject itself while I was using it. I had planned on returning, but I think I may have just fixed it.
Here is a screenshot of my laptop, Persephone is the red gummy bear with it's skeleton showing (icon courtesy of Jason Freeny). She has been plugged in for more than 30 minutes with no files open and hasn't ejected. YAY
Hopefully she doesn't eject now that I post this.

Lightroom
Currently in my Creative Workflow class and we are discussing printing from Lightroom. Before I had photoshop I was sooooooo excited you could print from Lightroom, but once I had photoshop I realized how much better it was printing through there instead of Lightroom. According to my teacher though Lightroom 4 allows you to soft proof and eventually Lightroom will do it all and there will be no need to have Photoshop, unless you are doing crazy editing to your photo or digital design stuff.
I personally love Lightroom. I don't like editing my photos because I think it makes it less real, but Lightroom allows you to perfect your photos.
Here is a look at the print module in Lightroom. (YAY Star Wars clock)

Schooooool
Spent a lot of time today working on my Thesis, well at least the blog for it. I am trying to give the blog more substance and hopefully draw people to it. I don't want it to be a blog nobody looks at.
I know I haven't posted any images recently and I am sorry. School has been crazy, but I will try really hard to do more.
I am currently in my History of Photography class and we are discussing Susan Sontag's In Plato's Cave, personally I can't stand her, but feel free to take the survey I have to the right.
Are we desensitized? Should someone intervene instead of taking a photograph?

Stuff...
Obviously I am behind again. I'm currently starting a blog specifically for my thesis called Coupons I Thee Wed, so hopefully that will help me stay on track with this one as well.
Anyways I am going to try and catch you up on what's happened in my photography since the last time I wrote. The show that I was printing those photos for went well. I was kind of sad that the only people who bid on my photos were family, but oh well. My family was the saving grace of the show though because they bid on so many photos.
My photography has kind of been all over the place since then though. I just don't know what I like. I don't like having to pick one idea and just focus on that. My interests are ever changing.
Hence why my Thesis idea has changed probably 4 times in just the last semester. I am pretty excited about the idea I am pursuing though. I am going to document through photos, writing and collage me couponing for my wedding. There will also be examples of the projects I am embarking for the wedding and all the stress that goes along with it. Mainly spending as little as possible since I don't really have the money to spend.
I am hoping this will be interesting to those that view it, but I just hope to come out with a finished product that I can be proud of.

Falling behind again...
I said I was going to start actually using this blog again, but of course I have fallen behind once more. I guess I should just say I will write when I have the chance.
Anyways I'm still photographing the objects and I am working on developing the text that goes along with them, but as of this moment I am printing photos from my night series for a print sale the senior photo majors are throwing this Friday. Unfortunately though we don't get any of the money from the photographs, instead the money is all going towards a fund for our book we are making and whatever is left we will give to next year photo seniors.
Here are the images I selected:

Starting this up again...
So, I did this blog as an assignment for class, but now I want to start actually utilizing it.
I am a senior now and this year is all about thesis. I still have no idea what I am going to do for it. Surprisingly I am not to worried, but I am sure once it gets closer to the deadline I will start stressing.
Right now I have been working on a photo series that deals with the significance of objects around the apartment I share with my boyfriend, Tim. I've photographed them within the environment of the apartment and without that background. Personally I'm more attached to the photos I did in the studio because it makes the object the most important thing in the photo. I'm not exactly sure what I am trying to say with these photos. I guess that objects have meaning only if we give it to them. I mean our apartment wouldn't feel like home without all the silly knick knacks adorning every surface. What does that mean though?

These are a sample of some of the images I took. The drunk jester with the red globe is mine and the gargoyle with the green globe is Tim's. We got these when we went to Renaissance Faire over the summer to add to a little pewter figurine army we kind of started. The army consisted of two wizards and a Roman soldier I got for Tim while I was in Rome over the summer before these two joined the group. This is the story of all the items around our apartment. It starts with one of us having something and then all of a sudden we start collecting more of those objects to cram in our apartment. It's a sickness really, but it's fun and we are creating memories while doing it.
Where will this project take me? Do I continue pursuing the value we give these objects or does it become about the differences between the objects that we each possess individually and those we possess together?
Well that's all for now, but I will post more as the project progresses.
